eBags is a website that specializes in luggage, but they also sell a variety of items, including clothes, athletic gear, and business supplies. They offer competitive prices on most products that they sell. However, there are a few promotions, deals, and loopholes that you can stack to really save BIG MONEY! I recently purchased a new Samsonite carry-on bag and some packing cubes with original retail of $167.99, and a sale price of $100.48. When the dust finally settled, I had only spent $13.77… a savings of 92 percent!! Follow along to see how…
First, head over to eBags and see if they carry any items you want. None of this will matter if you don’t find anything useful to buy! When you’re looking, keep in mind that this deal reaches maximum value for a $100 purchase, because we can use all of the offers below. Anything over $50 will trigger at least one Amex offer.
Step 1: Add Amex Offers
American Express has an offer for eBags to Spend $50 and get $10. This offer is valid through September 2016, and I found it on all of my Amex cards. Be sure to use the multiple tab trick to add it to as many cards as you can.
Step 2: Use a Cash Back Portal
If you do not have an Ebates account, go make one now. Seriously, I’ll wait….. ….. ….. …..ok, great! Ebates offers cashback on purchases at eBags. The percentage fluctuates, but it is generally between 10 and 20 percent! Other portals may offer higher cashback percentage at times, but Ebates pays out on gift certificates, which will be important soon. Go ahead and find eBags on Ebates and click through to their website. **Be sure to disable any adblock-type software to ensure your purchase is tracked.**
Step 3: Purchase a $50 Email Gift Certificate (skip this step if your purchase will be under $50… kinda obvious)
Ok, now we are ready to make some purchases. Since eBags does not allow you to split a purchase between multiple credit cards, this is the only way to take advantage of multiple Amex offers in one order (assuming your purchase will be over $100). Additionally, this is a way to double dip using Ebates – They will pay cashback on your gift certificate purchase AND when you purchase the actual items! Once you purchase the gift certificate, it should be delivered to your email box within minutes.
Step 4: Discount Link
Now you are ready to actually purchase your items. Here you have two choices. Depending on the cashback percentage, you may want to go back to Ebates and click through to eBags again. If Ebates is offering less than 20 percent, you can use this eBags referral link. Anybody who I refer through this link will get 20 percent off and free shipping on orders over $49! Full disclosure: I will also get a $10 credit to use on eBags… so THANKS to anyone who uses my link!
Use your gift certificate first, and then pay for the remaining balance with your enrolled Amex card to save another $10!
Step 5: Watch for Price Drops/Deals
eBags offers a 110% Price Guarantee. If the price of the items you purchased drops, or if you find them on another website for less, eBags will refund 110% of the difference in price! This applies to discount, sale, and coupon prices as well.
I noticed that both of the items I purchased were on sale today, and had dropped a total of $13. I chatted with a representative, provided my order number, and asked him to match to current eBags price. Surprisingly, the representative found the items at a much lower price and processed a $36.61 refund! The terms also state that there is a 10-day limit, but I was issued a refund over two weeks after my purchase.
My Big Deal – Putting it all Together
My items were already on sale, reducing their original retail price of $167.99 to a sale price of $100.48. I strategically purchased almost exactly $100 to maximize the Amex offer deal.

Final Thoughts
With just a bit of extra effort, you can save a substantial amount on your travel gear. I’m looking forward to using my new carry-on bag, and it will be that much sweeter to know it cost less than $14! What will you use these deals for?? Cheers!
