Radpad, the app that allows you to pay rent using a credit card, announced a new promotion. They have teamed up with Android and Stripe to offer NO FEE rent payments for the rest of 2016!
To take advantage of this promotion, you must use the Radpad app on an Android phone. The phone must be running Android Pay. Link your credit card to Android Pay and use it to pay your rent. Radpad will simply send a check to your landlord, and you will earn points/miles! This is MUCH better than simply writing a check or paying with cash. The normal fee for this type of service is 3.49%.
Now, if you’re a regular reader of our posts, you may have some thoughts swirling. Let me address a few FAQ’s:
Can I “pay rent” to my spouse/parent/dog?
This was honestly my immediate thought. Basically, free “spending” until the end of 2016 if this worked. However, from what I’ve read, Radpad has a system to validate landlords. If they suspect abuse, Radpad may request official lease documents and/or cancel your account. I have not personally used the app as a “tenant” or been contacted as a landlord… yet.
If you decided to test the waters on this, please report back in the comments!
Can I use Radpad to pay my mortgage?
Unfortunately, no.
What credit cards are supported by Android Pay?
Visit this link for details. Most notably, Chase cards are not supported for use with Android pay.
I still see the 3.49% fee notification… what gives?
Make sure you have the latest app update. Radpad confirmed via Twitter that they will not be charging the fee, but updates may not be immediate.
I use an iPhone… Where can I grab a cheap Android phone for this?
If you have an old Android phone or a friend with one, use that. It must be NFC compatible and running Android 4.4 or higher. If you cannot borrow a phone, eBay has the Nexus 5 available for $120. You could also search for one with a busted screen for even less. Make sure you will be getting enough benefit from paying rent to justify the cost of the phone.
Conclusion
This is a great opportunity for those of you paying rent out there! You can likely hit quite a few spending bonuses with five months of rent. Check out our Top Offers page for some of the best sign up bonuses on the market. Cheers!
