Starting today, American Express is temporarily increasing the transfer ratio to British Airways Avios. Last October, the transfer ratio dropped from [1:1] to [1:0.8]. This promotion offers a 50% bonus over the current transfer ratio. You must transfer points between August 10, 2016 and October 10, 2016. Effectively, this makes the transfer ratio [1:1.2] for the next two months.
The Avios program is a distance-based award program with a few sweet spots. We took advantage of one of the best sweet spots for our recent Eurotrip – BOS – DUB/SNN for only 12,500 Avios! If you take advantage of this promotion, you can effectively fly from the United States to Europe for 10,500 Membership Rewards points!
We are also redeeming Avios for a short haul flight from SYD to MEL for only 4,500 Avios during our upcoming trip to Australia. Short flights are very cheap with Avios. If you have plans to use some Avios in the future, take advantage of this promotion before it disappears.
Where will you go with your Avios?
