We LOVE our Southwest Companion Pass! If you’re not familiar, this benefit from Southwest Airlines allows you to book a ticket with points and add a companion for free. We consider it to be the best single perk in the points game, essentially doubling the value of all of your Southwest miles.
Having the Companion Pass leads to interesting discussions about which city to visit on any given weekend. We debate the merits of the pacific northwest vs a visit to sunny Florida, simply because we have the opportunity to fly virtually anywhere in the country for free. During a recent discussion between going to Portland, ME or Portland, OR, I thought it would be nice to have guides to each city served by Southwest. That is precisely what this Companion Pass Series will be: curated guides to each city written by locals.
If you do not currently have a Companion Pass, you can learn how to get one here.
The city guides below highlight the best restaurants, tourist attractions, local treasures, and hidden secrets of cities you can visit for free! These guides will be written with the intent to help with a weekend visit to the subject city. Pick from the recommendations by people who absolutely love their city.
