I finally found one of my holy grail items – a pair of great-looking, tailored-fit jeans that are extremely comfortable. In this post, I’ll be covering a few “elevated basics” from Mott & Bow, including the aforementioned jeans, a merino wool sweater, and a t-shirt. If you’re looking to upgrade some cornerstone items in your wardrobe, read on.
I’ve mentioned in past articles and on my subreddit, that I’m always looking for the perfect pair of travel jeans. A representative from Mott & Bow reached out, claiming to have what I’m looking for. They offered to send a few items for my honest review and feedback.
Who is Mott & Bow?
Mott & Bow is a NYC-based clothing company that has focused on creating premium denim products at fair prices. Started by Alejandro Chahin, whose family owns a denim mill in Honduras, Mott & Bow has over 30 years in the denim industry. The family controls the entire process of production, to consistently create high quality jeans. They’ve also expanded into other basics, like t-shirts, sweaters, hats, and scarves.
Elevated Basics
I love the look of the jeans and sweater from Mott & Bow, that I wore them for a family photo shoot. I hope you like the pictures!
Jeans – Broome Slim
As I stated in the title, the Broome Slim Fit jeans are the most comfortable jeans I’ve ever owned, and it’s not particularly close. Jeans are a staple item in most wardrobes, but we often have to sacrifice comfort for style, particularly in a slim cut. These jeans from Mott & Bow have the appearance of raw denim, without the obnoxious discomfort and break-in process. They are an absolute pleasure to wear, straight from the package.
The biggest reason that these jeans are so comfortable is the integrated 4-way stretch. They feature the highest elasticity (37%) of any Mott & Bow jeans, and they’re built from 91% cotton, 6% polyester, and 3% Elastine. Most “stretch denim” products only have two-way, horizontal stretch. If you’ve never experienced the difference between 2-way and 4-way stretch, it’s like night and day. The hand feel is buttery soft, and the range of motion is heavenly.
Not only are they comfortable, but the Broome jeans have a flattering, slim-cut fit. They look just like a pair of designer, raw denim jeans. I’ve been wearing them almost daily since I received them from Mott & Bow, and they still look brand new. Some days, I even put them on just to lounge around the house. Its honestly hard to fully express how impressed I am by these jeans. You just have to try them on for yourself to completely understand.

Sweater – Lucas
Another staple wardrobe item is a nice, wool sweater. I’m a huge fan of Merino Wool, due to its anti-odor, quick-dry, and durable qualities. The Lucas sweater comes in 4 colors and is offered in crew or v-neck.
For travel, this sweater offers a lot of versatility. It’s lightweight, so it can be worn year-round. It can be dressed up over a button-down shirt, layered over a t-shirt, or worn by itself for a more casual look. Because it’s 100% Merino wool, you won’t likely have to worry about washing it during your trip.

T-shirt – Driggs
The final item I tested is the Driggs T-shirt. This t-shirt is a very basic, 100% cotton tee, with a tailored-fit. There’s nothing wrong with the shirt, and it makes a solid add-on item, if you’re looking for a new tee. However, I didn’t find anything particularly remarkable about it.
The fit of the shirt is good for me – not too tight or too loose. I did find that the California Blue colorway shows sweat pretty obviously. It’s a good-looking shirt, but I will always prefer a merino or merino-blend tee for travel. For casual wear, this one is a solid option.

Final Thoughts
Mott & Bow, in my opinion, has created the perfect pair of jeans. With 4-way stretch and a very flattering slim fit, these jeans will quickly become your favorite for travel and daily wear. Their 100% merino wool sweaters are also quite wonderful, and I am very happy with the look and fit. Take a look at the Mott & Bow website for yourself and grab some elevated basics for your wardrobe.
