Since we brought our daughter home from the hospital, we have acquired approximately 53 various devices to transport her. From strollers, to slings, to caddies, to hip seats, we have just about every option on the market. Unfortunately, none of these carriers are ideal for travel. In preparation for our big trip to Maui, I started looking for another option. That’s when I discovered MiniMeis, makers of the ideal baby travel carrier.
Who is MiniMeis
The MiniMeis carrier was created by a group of Scandinavian dads. Julius and Marcus invented and designed the carrier itself, and Tarjei is the CEO. The company is based in Norway.
Just like most dads, these guys loved to carry their young kids on their shoulders. They quickly noticed how uncomfortable this carry position can be after just a few minutes, both for the parent and child. Usually, when a child is placed on their parent’s shoulders, they’re really sitting on the back of the neck. This causes pressure on the vertebrae and less-than-ideal posture. Additionally, carrying a child this way necessitates holding them securely with both hands, leaving you unable to hold/carry anything else.
There MUST be a better way! So, these fellas used their background in product and textile design to create just that – a compact, hands-free, ergonomic, shoulder carrier!
Carrier Features
The MiniMeis carrier is built to carry the weight of your baby (up to 39lbs) in a very intuitive way, on the shoulders. Unlike the traditional shoulder carry, which places strain on the neck, this carrier supports the weight ergonomically. Your baby will be able to sit back into a seat, secured with ankle, waist, and shoulder straps. The MiniMeis transfers the weight back, off of the neck, allowing you to comfortably carry the little one.
Ergonomic Seat
The seat on the MiniMeis carrier allows your child to sit back, with their weight off of your neck. Braces wrap around your chest and buckle in place to transfer the weight down your core. There is still a bit of pressure on the shoulders, but not nearly the pain in the neck!
Security Straps
Straps fit securely around your child’s waist and ankles, to hold them securely in place. If your baby is under 10-months old, or has trouble completely sitting upright, there’s a removable shoulder strap to hold them upright.
Hands Free
After lifting and strapping your child into the carrier, your hands are free to use as needed. I was able to carry a bottle of water along for our hike, and I could even tote the diaper bag.
Fun for Kids
Our daughter absolutely loves sitting up high, so she can see everything that’s going on. The very first time I put her in the seat, as a test, she couldn’t stop giggling.
Tiny Mirror
The carrier also includes a tiny mirror, in an attached pouch, so you can check on your little passenger. 🙂
Compact Fold Up
When you’re finished with the carrier, it folds up into a compact size, which fit easily into our car-seat bag. It comes with a detachable shoulder strap.
Comfortable Ride
Although, I can’t personally say that I’ve tested the ride in the seat itself… my daughter found it to be so comfortable that she actually fell asleep up there!
Why Great for Travel
Umbrella strollers have long been the standard baby transport for travel. They’re still very useful, but the MiniMeis carrier is much more compact. It also enables you to move freely in places where strollers would struggle – stairs, trails, cobblestone streets, etc.
We enjoy scenic hikes, which would be tricky with an infant. During our recent trip to Maui, we brought our daughter along on a beautiful coastal trail. The MiniMeis carrier gave her a comfortable ride and the best vantage point. I was able to walk over uneven terrain, including lava rocks, with ease. My hands were free to push aside brush and tree limbs – just be aware of low limbs!
As I mentioned before, the compact, folding design also makes this carrier packable for those who like to travel light.
Conclusion
The MiniMeis carrier is a wonderful option for travelers. It allows you to comfortably explore a new place with a small child. You don’t have to worry about uneven walkways or finding space for your stroller, and your hands are free to carry other essentials. If your child is anything like ours, they will love making memories from the high-riding viewpoint. The MiniMeis carrier has a 100% satisfaction guarantee, so you’ve got nothing to lose!
